Cancer Prevention

Around 4 in 10 cancers in the UK could be prevented

Research has shown that things like stopping smoking, keeping a healthy weight, staying safe in the sun, cutting down on alcohol and eating a healthy, balanced diet can reduce the risk of cancer. Not all cancers are preventable but there are things you can do to reduce your risk of developing cancer.

The biggest lifestyle changes you can make to reduce your cancer risk are:

  • Eating healthily and increasing your fibre intake

  • Reducing your alcohol intake

  • Staying physically active

  • Stopping smoking or tobacco use

  • Staying safe in the sun

It’s never too late to start making positive changes to improve your health in the future.
